Too Late

Sloan will go through hell and back for those she loves. And she does so, every single day. Caught up with the alluring Asa Jackson, a notorious drug trafficker, Sloan has finally found a lifeline to cling to, even if it's meant compromising her morals. She was in dire straits trying to pay for her brother's care until she met Asa. But as Sloan became emotionally and economically reliant on him, he in turn developed a disturbing obsession with her--one that becomes increasingly dangerous every day.
When undercover DEA agent Carter enters the picture, Sloan's surprised to feel an immediate attraction between them, despite knowing that if Asa finds out, he will kill him. And Asa has always been a step ahead of everyone in his life, including Sloan. No one has ever gotten in his way.
No one except Carter.
Together, Sloan and Carter must find a way out before it's too late...

Readers say *Too Late* by Colleen Hoover is a dark, intense thriller-romance praised for its fast pace and complex characters, especially Asa and Sloa...
Be forewarned that there are a lot of triggers for domestic abuse, rape, verbal abuse, overall shitty parents, etc.
I really really enjoyed this book! I understand that some people may not like it because of the triggers but I enjoyed the characters.
I’ve said this on many of my reviews on books written by Colleen Hoover, but there’s just something about her writing I adore.
Like with this:
I can understand why people can’t stand Asa. Even my thumbs try to type “Ass” instead of “Asa,” because he is in fact, an ass. He’s a complete garbage human being. Although, I applaud that I have such intense feelings toward him. One of my favorite things about Colleen Hoover’s writing is how she takes you into the mind of the villain. She makes the reader understand their behavior and sympathize for Asa. Don’t get me wrong, as they say in the book, “sympathy is as far as it goes. You can sympathize with someone and still wish they were dead.” I just choose to focus on the positives and turn my hatred feelings for Asa into appreciation for Colleen Hoover’s writing.
I don’t feel a huge need to elaborate on Sloan, Carter/Luke. They were great and I love their characters and stories.
There were quite a few epilogues after the initial story, but I was 100% ok with them! I continuously wanted more content and I loved the ending. If the book would’ve ended at the initial ending (chapter 45) I don’t think I would’ve been as satisfied. In fact I’d probably harass Colleen on all social media platforms begging for more.
It was great. If you aren’t easily offended and just love dark romances that pull at the heartstrings, then I’d suggest picking this up.
It may be harder for anyone that is still suffering and sensitive to domestic abuse as well as rape victims.
Why did Dalton and Luke TWO UNDERCOVER cops decide to shoot Asa “once in each leg”??? Like Asa has assaulted the women you love in all kinds of way, he says he will kill your best friends and family, and you shoot him in the leg???
The pregnancy part at the end seemed random too. When Luke and Sloan first have sex he uses a condom from his car that had been in there for 6 months??? So it left the door open for the baby to be his but then never got to find out in the end. Also it would have been good to know how Luke’s mom and Sloan’s brother were doing during the epilogue…. I have too many feels about the ending.
