It Ends with Us: A Novel (1)
NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING BLAKE LIVELY AND JUSTIN BALDONI! From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Starts with Us and All Your Perfects, a "brave and heartbreaking novel that digs its claws into you and doesn't let go, long after you've finished it" (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author) about a young woman in a new relationship who can't stop thinking about her first love. Lily hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town where she grew up--she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life seems too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He's also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn't hurt. Lily can't get him out of her head. But Ryle's complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his "no dating" rule, she can't help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan--her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened. An honest, evocative, and tender novel, It Ends with Us is "a glorious and touching read, a forever keeper. The kind of book that gets handed down" (USA TODAY).

*****Trigger warnings and maybe possible spoilers because the back of the book does not give hints towards the warnings******* I include this because I was blindsided and I wish I would have read more about this book before reading, I needed to know this was a topic- a main plot points actually. That is why I am including this.
Domestic Violence
Mention of child abuse
Attempted Rape (Twice)
I went back and forth with this book, I hated it I loved it I hated it and then I loved it again. I was rating it pretty low when I finished it, and then I read the author's note at the end of the book. And it entirely changed my perspective- for the better. This is the book ending she felt her mother should have had, that is why it ends as it does, and why no legal action was taken, at least that's my view, entirely my own opinion.
And this does happen in real life. So, for those saying it's unrealistic, it is not. It has happened and is most likely happening still. This book broke my heart put it back together and then broke it again. I read in someone's review that they hated the way the author made her fall in love with Ryle too, and hated that he turned out to be who he is. But I think that was exactly the point, it's who you least expect it to be, and it goes to show you how easily it is to fall in love with someone and get trapped in a toxic relationship. The author needed us to fall in love just as hard and as easily as Lily did, so we could understand the shock, and the fear and the denial and the hesitation to leave when she knew she should have. She needed us to be just as shocked, and heart broken and unsure of what to do. It worked for me. At the end of the day, I loved this book, and will love it fondly.

Wow.. this book has lots and lots of feels with emotional roller coasters.. Lily and Atlas.. deep breaths.. the connection they had as teenagers really bonds and builds character throughout their adulthood.. Lily had an abusive father and regretted her mothers choice to stay while growing up.. until she herself ended up in a very similar situation with new found love Dr. Ryle Kincaid.. whom she loved and ended up marrying.. only to realize he mimicked a lot of her father’s behaviors.. when she finally found her strength during pregnancy, she had to make the hard choice of what she wanted her life to be after motherhood.. she had a baby girl Emerson Dory, whom was name after Ryle’s deceased brother and Atlas’s middle name.. loved her friendship between Ryle’s sister Alyssa was able to withstand the turmoil and she was a true friend.. loved this read
