About Resisterhood: Late Night Library
What do introverts do to feel like they're doing something to make the world a better place? Probably start a book club.
I love women, I am a woman, I have made 2 children that will become women, I also come from a long line of women (just like you).
I think women should have more power, more rights, and more choices in the world we are literally creating. You know how I think I can do that? By gathering knowledge and stories that give women the empowerment to get the things we deserve. It's not pushy or demanding, it's not intense and rigorous. I want to read things that inspire, infuriate, and engage me, then gather a gossip and talk about what we learn.
But if I'm honest, I am doing it for community, good conversation, and deep connection. I'm a lifelong learner, and would be on this path anyway, but I want to do it with new friends, I hope you do too.
This book club is my way of feeling like I may spark empowerment in even one reader, me included.
I consider myself to be a book collector (even if that means screenshots of books I need to remember to buy, or in an online shopping cart for when I get an extra $900 to drop on books I wish I could buy, iykyk). As far as time to read, that's tricky, I'm a mom and the world is on fire, and I have some anxiety about that (meaning that I'm easily distractable). I really love audiobooks because I can put in headphones and multitask. I find this to be less ideal than a book in hand, but here we are. And we're all out here just doing our best.
I have almost perfected my algorithms on social media, and so I have been collecting book recommendations from the coolest people online for years; feminists, historians, stoics, black women, ex-church cult members, etc. It's been a labor of love that will no longer be in vain now that you're here reading this.
About my first project:
The Matriarchal Bite-Size Blueprint is a series with a 6-book focus on current gender and social systems, how women have been convinced that we're less than, and how to break the machine (that we're raging against) and build something sacred in its place. Head over to the meetings tab for the full schedule with descriptions.
Go check out the discussion board to find out more about the Resisterhood Book Club.
