First Edition Friends

Calling all 20- and 30-something bibliophiles! Welcome to First Edition Friends, where we believe that a great book is best enjoyed with great company.

If you're looking for a low-key, fun way to meet new people and talk about great books, you've found your crew. We're all about blending good reads with good times, whether that's over a coffee or a cocktail. Our meetings are a chance to dive into lively discussions, but we're also here to build friendships and explore the city's amazing literary scene together. Meetups will rotate between some of Chicago's coolest bars, cafes, and independent bookstores—the exact spot will be determined based on poll results at the beginning of each month.

Each month, we’ll pick a new fiction or non-fiction title to read (mostly fiction), and then we’ll meet up once or twice to share our thoughts and hang out. We are a diverse and inclusive group, committed to creating a space where everyone feels welcome. We believe that different perspectives make for the best discussions, and we'll be intentionally choosing books and authors that reflect a wide range of voices, backgrounds, and experiences.

We're a big fan of the Book of the Month subscription and we love using it to discover new reads, so if you're a member too, you'll be in good company! We are super open to your book suggestions and ideas, so feel free to message me with your preferences!
