Wild Love (Standard Edition) (Rose Hill, 1)

She's been driving him wild for years.

The good kind of wild. The bad kind of wild.

But mostly, the kind of wild that comes with wanting your best friend's little sister and knowing you can't have her.

Forbes may have labeled Ford Grant the World's Hottest Billionaire, but all he cares about is escaping the press and opening a recording studio in gorgeous small town Rose Hill. Something that comes to a screeching halt when he ends up face-to-face with a young girl who claims he's her biological father. Now, he spends his days balancing business with parenting a sullen twelve-year-old, all while trying desperately to keep his hands the hell off his best friend's sister, Rosie Belmont.

After living in the city, Rosie came blasting back into town like a storm. Beautiful, messy, and chaotic. And one wide-eyed, desperate plea for a job is all it takes for Ford to hire her. He vows to keep her at arm's length. Tries to stick to scowls and grumpy one-liners. But with her, verbal sparring is a type of foreplay--friction that soon turns to blistering heat.

Ford knows damn well he shouldn't cross this line. But shouldn't and can't are two very different things.

And the only thing he truly can't do is resist her.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Trope: Brother’s Best Friend, Childhood Crush, Found Family, Forbidden but Not Really Vibe Check: Messy but soft music industry romance with a dramatic streak So Wild Love was fine. Not terrible at all, but definitely not a favorite. I think it was the writing style that threw me off. There’s a lot of cursing, which I didn’t mind, but something about the pacing just felt off. It didn’t fully hook me the way I hoped it would. We’re following Rosie, who lives in New York with this seemingly perfect life. She has a boyfriend, a steady job, a nice condo, all of it. But you can tell something’s not right. She’s unhappy and questioning whether this life is even what she wants. Then things take a turn when she gets fired for standing up for herself after her gross boss tries to hit on her. So she goes back home to reset and figure it all out. Rosie is meant to be this strong, independent woman. And for the most part, she is. But I could not understand why she kept dragging out her relationship with her boyfriend when it was clearly over. Like girl, you do not love him. Let it go. That part just didn’t line up with the rest of her character and it bugged me. Then there’s Ford. And oh my god, Ford. He’s been in love with Rosie since they were kids. But of course he never acted on it because he’s best friends with her brother, Wes. And I’m sorry, but we are adults. That whole “you’re my best friend’s sister so I can’t date you” storyline makes me want to scream. It just feels so avoidable. That said, Ford is kind of the dream guy. He’s successful, hot, emotionally available, and a total sweetheart with his daughter Cora. The whole daughter subplot felt a little out of nowhere and not super believable, but it was still cute in a cheesy romcom way. It worked. Mostly. Now here’s the thing. Ford gets jealous. Like real jealous. And it got on my nerves a few times. I also got the sense that he really misses Wes and wants to relive their chaotic childhood energy. Which sometimes just makes things messier than they need to be. Overall I liked it. It wasn’t anything I’ll scream about from the rooftops, but it had its sweet moments. If you like brother’s best friend romances with some real emotional fluff, this one might be for you. Not my favorite, but still a solid three-star read.

I loved this book! Rosie and Ford were outstanding main characters, and their playful bullying revealed the depth of their love story over the years. I found myself grinning as I turned the pages. I especially liked how the Rose Hill series highlights dads, adding a unique layer to the narrative. The interactions between Cora, Rosie, and Ford were incredibly cute. This book had everything I hoped for! If you enjoy angst, tension, spice, childhood friends, a strong female lead, and dad tropes, then this masterpiece is for you. I can't wait for the next one!

This was cute. The slow burn was maybe a little too slow for me but I love the ending.

The banter between Rosie and Ford was fantastic! Throw Willa and Ford Jr in there and it could not be beat. I enjoyed this book quite a bit but didn't devour it like Chestnut Springs. Still a pretty great read.
