Heartless (Chestnut Springs, 2)

Working as a nanny for the world's grumpiest single dad should be simple...except she can't keep her eyes off him. And he can't keep his hands off her.

Cade Eaton is thirteen years older than Willa Grant, and he barely looks her way, even though she's living in his house for the summer. That is, until she gets him into the hot tub one night for a game of truth or dare. Then, all bets are off--and so are their clothes.

Cade is gruff, a little rough around the edges, but broad-shouldered ranchers with calloused hands and filthy mouths are this city girl's kryptonite. So who is she to resist?

But it's in their quietest moments together that he softens. It's in the unexpected way he takes care of Willa that she realizes his hardened exterior is just a façade. And it's when she watches him go all sweet with his little boy that she starts to fall for him, whatever the consequences.

Someone once convinced Cade that his best wasn't good enough. But Willa has never felt more cherished than she does in his arms.

Her contract says this arrangement is only for two months.

But her heart says this is forever.

8.5⭐️- rounded down for Bookclubs Holy shit, daddy Cade! If I thought Rhett was grumpy and hot in book one, Cade just blew him out of the water. I was absolutely obsessed with him; from his love for his son, to the way he protects his entire family, his grumpiness was really just a cover and what I loved most was how Willa softened him. I will say I didn’t really see that connection coming but I became very quickly obsessed with them together. I always have a conflicting feeling with the single dad trope, because in theory it really isn’t a fantasy for me in reality but it’s always so damn hot! Willa is the perfect contrast to Cade and I loved how much she loved Luke almost as much; some of my favorite moments were between the two of them. Needless to say, the cowboy thing still did it for me and I’ve already starting book 3!

I never thought I would be obsessed with a small town love story, but here we are. Done with the second book of the series less than 36 hours after finishing the first one. This book was hot and funny as hell. The grumpy single-dad and the firecracker young nanny in this story were an excellent combo. The banter and build-up was nothing less than perfect. I laughed all throughout this book. I’m not sure if the other books on this series will be able to top this one, but I guess I’ll have to find out.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 I really enjoyed this one. Quiet, grumpy rancher Cade paired with Willa’s wild, pocket-rocket energy made for a fun opposites-attract dynamic. The spice was hot and while he didn’t steal my heart, it was still an overall really solid, entertaining read. 🚨 Trope Alert: grumpy/sunshine, ranch romance, opposites attract, age gap 🥵 MMC Rating: would admire from afar 🔥 Spice Chapters: 14, 21, 22, 23, 26, 28
