Powerless (Chestnut Springs, 3)

Two childhood friends. Two broken hearts. One impromptu road trip to get away from everything. That's all this was supposed to be.

To Jasper Gervais's fans, he's the handsome, talented hockey heartthrob on TV. But to Sloane, he'll always be the lost boy with the sad eyes and a heart of gold.

The man she's loved in secret all her life.

So when her life falls apart on the day she's supposed to marry someone else, it only makes sense that he's the one to swoop in and save her. And when his world comes crashing down around him, she's there to return the favor.

But the more time they spend alone, the more Jasper isn't looking at her like a friend anymore. He isn't touching her like one, either. And after all these years, he's still everything she's ever wanted, everything she thought she could never have.

Their feelings aren't straightforward, though. They twist and turn around the pain of Jasper's past and the reality of Sloane's present.

Jasper Gervais might act like he wants her.

But after years of turning her away, he's going to need to prove it.

6/10 ⭐️ 7/10 🌶️ Chestnut Springs is a fun, imaginary place to be. I loved Sloane’s journey from good little daughter to independent grown woman. Jasper’s back story made me so sad/angry but finally hearing how he became an Eaton boy was satisfying. Harvey is always such a delight in these stories and actually made me tear up in the epilogue. I was frustrated reading the internal battles regarding their relationship but that was also the whole point of the story, I guess. Idk what this trope is called but I don’t think it’s for me. The spice was SPICY! Some of the scenes had me fully shook—who knew quiet Jasper had it in him?! Seriously, If you would’ve told me that the Jasper who appeared in books 1 & 2 would be a dom, I would’ve never believed you. I was NOT ready for him or his dirty talk 🤯🥵

I'm defiantly falling in love with the way Elsie Silver writes. She is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors.

I won't lie, There was a part in the middle where i started to get annoyed with the characters. I just wanted them to actually speak their minds and stop bottling everything up. but when they finally admitted their feelings ... Hallelujah!! it was an amazing book. They would do anything for each other and I love Solane standing up to her dad!

The dirty talk this man had! had me weak at the knees.

Absolutely amazing. Jasper is so far my favorite of the boys. The bonus chapter was also amazing. I’m immediately starting Reckless.

I enjoyed their relationship but the hockey part of this was not the focus nor especially accurate.
