Wild Card (Deluxe Edition) (Rose Hill, 4)

*This deluxe edition includes the mountain spine that matches with the rest of the series*

From #1 New York Times bestseller Elsie Silver comes the final book in the delicious, spicy, small-town Rose Hill series.

Sebastian Rousseau is a grumpy, hot-as-hell fire pilot who is too damn good with his hands.

It's the perfect combination. But unfortunately for her, he's also her ex-boyfriend's dad.

A chance meeting brought them together, and a missed connection has kept them apart.

One year later, a stroke of fate has them living under the same roof--which makes everything between them downright messy. Because even after all this time, he's still the man Gwen thinks about when she falls asleep. The one she can't get over no matter how hard she tries.

Bash is working on mending a fragile relationship with his son, and they both know acting on these urges would be the ultimate betrayal.

But Gwen sees the heat in his eyes. That look of need that never fails to send a shiver down her spine.

The mutual longing is borderline unbearable, and the simmering heat between them is downright palpable.

They both know there are rules when it comes to situations like this.

But then again...following the rules has never felt so futile.

Sizzling tropes:

  • Ex-boyfriend's dad
  • Age gap
  • Small town/Western
  • Grumpy hero
  • Forbidden romance
  • Forced proximity

I was happily surprised by Bash’s story! We get a glimpse of Gwen and Bash from the previous books but I wasn’t sure how I felt about him at first. I loved their meet cute but hated their overall story because it just hurt me that they were in the position they were in. The single dad trope is a serious stretch here because Bash’s kid is 24 and never knew him. Speaking of his son, I hated Tripp and wanted nothing more than for Bash to not give a shit about him but he was too nice for that arch. I loved Gwen and her demeanor. It’s a slow burn for sure but my heart was definitely feeling it for these two and it was a nice conclusion to the series.

Wild Card is a love story about learning you’re enough, exactly as you are. I first read Wild Love, the start of the Rose Hill series, about a year ago. After reading the next two books, I took a break, but when I ran into Wild Card, it made eye contact with me… sooo I had to grab it. Elsie Silver is incredible at building worlds that feel real. I jumped right back into Rose Hill and loved seeing the story through both characters’ perspectives. It was so relatable being inside their heads. This wasn’t just a romance. It was a reminder of how much we need people; friends, family, and partners. Bash struggled with feeling not good enough, while Gwen worried she was too much. Watching them accept themselves and learn how to give and receive love was everything. I’m honestly sad this series is over… and still hoping it becomes a TV show someday.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5/5 Spice: 🌶🌶🌶.5/5 I liked this one, but didn’t quite love it. I really loved Gwen as a character and enjoyed getting to know Crazy Clyde a bit more. Bash was definitely giving dilf energy and while the romance worked, it just didn’t fully grab me compared to others in the series. Still a solid, enjoyable read with nice spice. 🚨 Trope Alert: grumpy/sunshine, forbidden romance, age gap, ex-boyfriend’s dad 🥵 MMC Rating: would join the mile high club with him 🔥 Spice Chapters: 18, 19, 30, 33, 36

Best series ever!!! The characters are so lovable! You feel like you are not learning about a town but family. This authors writing is impeccable! I look forward to the other series. Again the narrators were amazing. I had an absolute fun time reading this series. 🥰

Nice end to series. I was a bit hesitant to read this based on synopsis but the story was handled with care. Felt very sorry for Bash and Gwen but glad they got their HEA. Clyde was wonderful and had me laughing whenever he was in a scene. I’m guessing Emmett will make appearance in next series and nice Beau cameo.
