⭐️⭐️ Frustrating, Messy, and Lacking the Summer Magic
It's Not Summer Without You had all the teen drama I expected, but without the charm that made the first book feel special. The beach house, the nostalgia, the lighthearted summer atmosphere—all of that was gone, and what was left felt frustrating and emotionally draining in a way that wasn’t satisfying.
Belly’s love triangle with Conrad and Jeremiah got even messier, but instead of feeling invested, I just felt exhausted. Conrad was even more distant and broody, Jeremiah was still the nice guy in waiting, and Belly spent most of the book confused and heartbroken—which, honestly, I get, but it made for a really repetitive and frustrating read. I wanted someone to communicate like an actual person instead of sulking and making everything harder.
The emotional weight of Susannah’s absence was important, and I appreciated how grief played a role in the story, but it felt overshadowed by all the relationship drama. The pacing dragged, the characters kept making questionable decisions, and overall, it just felt like a book full of waiting around for something big to happen—and when it did, it wasn’t really worth it.
I wanted to love this, but it lacked the fun, warmth, and emotional depth that could have made it a strong sequel. Instead, it just left me frustrated. Hoping the final book brings back some of the magic
