I'm gonna be real, I got super sucked into this one. I literally can't wait to read the next one. I have it reserved in three different formats from two different libraries so I can begin reading as soon as any single one of them becomes available.
This one has been on my list for a while. It's one of those that you see on teen lists pretty frequently, and since I barely read anything but YA I've been aware of it for a while. But then they made it into a Netflix Original and I was like, "Well, now I finally have to read it" because I hate watching things before reading things.
So I read it. And got embarrassingly sucked into the plot. And then I watched the Netflix special. And loved it. Even my husband enjoyed it. He was on the couch mostly to hang out with me because I'd been gone, but he watched the whole thing pretty avidly.
And now I want the next one. Immediately, preferably.
Update after second reading: still so good. Still got totally sucked in. Must pick up second one immediately to find out what happens even though I know what happens.

I’m at a loss for words. I loved Jenny’s The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, so I figured I would give this one a go because I also love the film adaptation and wanted to see the differences.
This book was just not up to the level in which Summer was, nor did I have the same love for the characters as I did for the film adaptation. Peter was almost insufferable on page and in the movie he was like a golden retriever boyfriend.
Hoping the second book is better.
