My big question: If this book was rewritten, what was the original like? It's hard to enjoy a book where there's nobody to root for, not one character is likable, not one. There's a perverse sense of "justice" at the book's conclusion that added to its over-the-top plot. This reader must admit she did not see the end coming, but it wasn't enough to redeem the overall lack of enjoyment of what amounted to a fast read.
This book had a lot of potential, but the ending felt like a copout. The characters were flat and undeveloped. This book would have benefited immensely if it was written from someone’s perspective.
Uuuuggghhhh! This was so captivating but the end really really pissed me off! I HATE HATE HATE a lying narrator. Like hate it. I read this is one sitting because it was so good right from the start. When will people who write this genre realize it's most dedicated fans want to solve the mystery but how can they if they're lied to?!
I wanted to love it, but I felt disconnected from the ending. Still a good story but I just struggled a bit. I would still recommend it though.
