Out in the secluded woods, at the couple's lake house, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers. But one morning everything changes. Kelly is found brutally stabbed to death and now, Sarah must take on her hardest case yet, defending her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.

This book was really poorly written and it doesn’t appear that it was researched at all. I really struggled with all the inaccuracies and I found a lot of issues that should have been caught in an editing process. Really disappointing.

I don't enjoy an unreliable narrator. At first, I didn't like it, the characters felt flat and the dialog was stilted. But then I decided to read the Kindle version rather than listen to the audiobook and I started to gain more interest in the story. But the ending was predictable and annoying. I don't like it when a character whose perspective I'm getting the story from intentionally leaves things out. I didn't go back through to see if it holds up because I wasn't that invested in the story. Adam was incredibly unlikable and so as callus as this sounds, I didn't care what happened to him. It also seemed unrealistic that Sarah would just beat up Ann at a police station. She's her boss and a lawyer and the thought that she might get sued never crossed her mind. Also, Scott was able to beat two men up? That seems like a lot. The Sheriff's motives were shaky and everyone's behavior was odd. Adding in at the end that Sarah killed her mother was piling on unnecessarily. Also was Bob the late night visitor. That was a weird scene. as was there being in love with each other. Her having a kid pours salt in only Adam's wounds and he never finds out... so.
