Say You'll Remember Me

"No one does funny, emotional, life-affirming love stories quite like Abby Jimenez. She just keeps outdoing herself." ―EMILY HENRY
There's no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes--all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there's nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.
But after one incredible and seemingly endless date, Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be. Only no amount of distance or time is enough to forget what's between them. And the only thing better than one single perfect memory is to make a life--and even a love--worth remembering.

I wanted to like this book more than I did.
I liked both of the MCs, but there were times they were just insufferable. Yall went on ONE date, and you suddenly knew they were the one even though she was moving 2000 miles away the next day?? So much so it made your lives - already with the terrible things happening - worse? Look, I am all for the romance, but when the book is constantly whining about how far apart they are and there is no one willing to budge, it got tiring really quickly. My grumpy became happy far too quickly and I honestly ended up just wanting to read Samantha's "side" story with her mom.
The one thing this book does really well is the relationship between Samantha and her mother ailing from dementia. I wanted to learn more about the intricacies of the relationship, but the book leaned more into the love story between the 2 MCs. Give me the family dynamics. Give me the time learning how to rewire your life and routine because of a mom who doesn't remember your name. That's what I wanted more of.
