Part of Your World (Part of Your World, 1)

A refreshingly modern fairy tale and instant New York Times bestseller that Love Hypothesis author Ali Hazelwood hails as "an uplifting, feel-good, romantic read."

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who's ten years younger than her and as casual as they come--the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn't need glory or fame. She's fine with being a "mere" ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she's discovering just what's really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can't just give up the joy she's found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

"Abby Jimenez's words are like fairy dust... they sprinkled humor and warmth all over my life. Pick up Part of Your World if you're looking for an uplifting, feel-good, romantic read--and for a beautiful reminder that we should always try to live the life that makes us the happiest." --Ali Hazelwood, New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis

I’m a sucker for the book title tying into the plot and loved how Daniel and Alexis fit parts of themselves into each others world💌

I am rating this three stars because of how many worthy quotes were found within this story, mentally, this is a 2-star read. This has nothing to do with the writing because I do enjoy Ms. Jimenez's work, the delivery for the plot was the issue, even more so the characters. 50% through I was a bit bored of the romance mainly because of how repetitive it got regarding their differences in age, occupation, social groups, and financial status. Nothing much was happening for them individually, and for the conflict in both their lives, just constant complaining about their monogamy and personal issues. The only time the storyline picked up was 70% through, which was a bit unfortunate. Things started to shift at 87%, meaning everything was resolved quickly. Throughout the story, we mainly got everything through Alexis' perspective, leaving a lot of unanswered questions about Daniel. The main reason for their separation could have been a discussion from the beginning, but what is a romance without a third-act conflict? The principle of everything didn't make much sense, but this book made me laugh, teary-eyed, and giggle, which I appreciated.

As someone who actively avoids contemporary romance, I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. I am completely obsessed! Part of Your World touched me in a way that I usually only reserve for historical fiction. The writing was clear, realistic, and (most importantly) there were zero gag-worthy moments. I was fully squealing and giggling at every turn (an unprecedented reaction from me in this genre).

The characters felt real, their struggles were deeply authentic, and the depictions of domestic abuse (in all its forms) were handled with nuance and care. And oh my god, I don’t think I’ve ever been more infuriated with a fictional family than I was with the Montgomeries. The level of rage they induced? Unmatched. But I absolutely loved the MCs! Their journey, their love, their well-earned happily-ever-after... I was rooting for them every step of the way.

I’m still in awe of how much I adored this book. Abby Jimenez completely blew my mind and might’ve single-handedly converted me (a contemporary romance skeptic). If you haven’t read this yet—fix that immediately.

It was a shift in gravity." - Daniel Grant "I didn't hang up with her later either. We talked for five hours straight." - Daniel Grant "Alexis made me want to be better." - Daniel Grant "I couldn't say I could really fault him for chasing down things that could hurt him. I couldn't stop doing it either." - Daniel Grant "Love follows you. It goes where you go. It doesn't know about social divides or distance or common sense. It doesn't even stop when the person you love dies. It does what it wants." - Alexis Montgomery - CONTENT WARNINGS! -> Physical Abuse -> Mental Abuse

Pretty good, very sweet, a lot more tame than the romance I usually read. I would say it's equally about recognizing and breaking the cycle of abuse as much as it's about their relationship.
