Just for the Summer

This witty, slow-burn rom-com is the "ideal beach read." --Elle
Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other's out, and they'll both go on to find the love of their lives. It's a bonkers idea... and it just might work.
Emma hadn't planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.
It's supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected--including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

When Emma, a 28-year-old travel nurse, reads this thread during her lunch break with her best friend Maddie, she decides to DM this guy because she’s also the good luck charm that every man she dates marries immediately after the breakup. A few days later, they start talking on the phone, and eventually Justin comes up with an interesting offer for Emma. What if they date each other and break up? Then they can break the curse and have a chance to find their soulmates. Emma and Maddie decide to change her plans and rent a cozy cottage on Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota for only six weeks to help her realize their date plan. The plan to break the curse is 4 dates, 1 kiss and a break up, just for the summer.
I loved this story, I laughed, cried and wanted to ease the pain for Emma, as her toxic mother comes into the picture. The layers of the characters that kept revealing themselves. The plot was heavy, but Abby Jimenez has a way of getting it across without having us loose interest. This was a 4 ½ star read for me.
