In everyone's life, there's a split-second decision that can change everything ...

For Larissa, it came when choosing who to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea she'd met the perfect man. She and Chris are great friends, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy.

But she didn't choose Chris to drive her home all those months ago--she went with his best friend, and he became her boyfriend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else.

How can something that feels so right be absolutely impossible?

THIS BOOK WAS CUTE. I know I said I don't like romance in my thrillers, but I'm loving the romance in romance!!!! My first Abby Jimenez book and I was so impressed, invested, and in awe with how much I have enjoyed these romance books I find myself reading. This is a love story. A story about what love means and how love is shown. My favorite thing about this book is it is realistic. It's not some foo-foo love story with frills. It's hard, painful, honest, and messy.

I didn’t think i would like this trope but surprisingly i ate this book UPPPPP!! it’s his best friend’s girl , her boyfriends bff.. OMG THE TENSION.

abby jimenez has a way of being incredibly funny with the most random things and they stick. like the stabby sticks, the grape blood water , and the trauma bond. I felt so much for the pining and wanting what you can’t have.

amongst the romance there were so many good life takeaways and conversations centered around supporting vs enabling, starting over in a career/life, grief, etc.

i would 10/10 recommend. and will be reading more AJ!

I’m going to say it.. Chris gave me stalker creep vibes. I did not find his actions that romantic. Larissa was a grown woman and she could handle her allergy, and she kept saying she wanted to be independent and he ignored that constantly? Let’s not forget ruining a 25 year friendship by falling in love with your best friends GF

NEVER FAILS! I swear Abby knows how to write such beautiful and complicated relationship tropes. I have yet to read a book I didn’t love of hers. This one really touched my heart since I truly felt a kinship to Larissa. And the complexity of Chris and Mike’s friendship truly well done! And as always the beautiful voices of my fav narrators is always a bonus!
