One of Us Is Dead

"Scheming mean girls, sex and scandal, secrets and lies...what's not to love?"--Lisa Unger, New York Times bestselling author of Last Girl Ghosted

The Real Housewives meets murder in this deliciously savage and wildly entertaining thriller from Jeneva Rose, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Marriage, You Shouldn't Have Come Here, and Home Is Where the Bodies Are.

Buckhead isn't a place you live, it's a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren't nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge.

Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives--down to each individual strand of hair. Despite the toxicity, Jenny keeps her focus on running her business, and keeping the peace. However, peace proves to be impossible when one of her clients is murdered. Now, it's up to Jenny and her knowledge of neighborhood secrets and gossip to help the police solve the case. It won't be easy though, because while Buckhead may be all about appearances, nothing is as it seems.

Never have mean girls been meaner, nor murder been so much fun than in this "sublimely bitchy" (Kirkus Reviews) and scandalous suspense novel from Jeneva Rose, the "queen of twists" (Colleen Hoover).

This book read like “Big Little Lies” fan fiction. One adult woman publicly refers to someone as her BFF while another tries to initiate a high-five after making generic complaints about men. There is not a single redeeming or interesting character in the entire narrative. How did I finish this? Why did I finish this?

Very REAL Housewives meets Desperate Housewives. The twist was one I expected in order to receive a “happy ending”, but some storylines throughout seemed kind of passed over. I needed more background. I feel that writing it in 5 different perspectives caused there to be a lot of missed interactions between some other characters, but it was was quick read and made me glad I wasn’t living in Buckhead with these women lol. Very entertaining.

Interesting plot idea, but I couldn’t stand the inner dialogue - made the characters felt like caricatures. Could’ve been written by an eighth grader.

Once I got into it, I enjoyed it. But I must admit, it felt a bit too over-the-top, like a season of Desperate Housewives (emphasis on the desperate part). It seemed a bit unrealistic that so many women spent so much money on drama with their “friends” at a salon. I mean, I’ve never had that kind of disposable income, so what do I know, right? Haha! I did enjoy the character development, but I also felt like some details got lost in the translation from TOO many perspectives. Overall, I thought it was a fun read and would rate it 7 out of 10.

Very Real-Housewives-ish... but with deadly consequences. I liked this slightly more than Home Is Where The Bodies Are, but ultimately it just wasn't for me. I don't think I'm a fan of this author.
