A Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover comes a novel that explores life after tragedy and the enduring spirit of love.

When Leeds meets Layla, he's convinced he'll spend the rest of his life with her--until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla's behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that's just one of many inexplicable occurrences.

Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow--another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla's well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can't help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

It took me a month and a half to read this book. Not because it was bad, it wasn't, but because I'm the mom to an almost four-month-old, and I barely have time to read physical books. I even gave up trying to physically read it 46% into the book and decided to just buy the audiobook on Audible. In case you are curious, I didn't use credit, the audiobook was only $1.99.

I liked this book and it was mysterious, I think I was just expecting more from it. In my opinion, I wanted more creepiness and less romance. For me (possible light spoiler) the ending was just too sweet.
I like that aspect from her contemporary romances, not for me with this book, it was just too jarring.

I have to admit, this was odd for me and at first, I wasn’t sure if I would like it but I’m glad I stuck with it cuz the ending was worth it!! Not CoHos usual but one of my favorites now because of that fact.

This was different from the first two Colleen Hoover books I had read. It did keep me reading until the end but it wasn't my favorite.

LOL. So many CoHo fans did not like this one. Its very different than many of her others. Each of the main characters were flawed and unlikeable- Leeds, Layla, and Willow. The story line also had some issues. Yet, CoHo write well and this was a quick read. The story was still entertaining just not spectacular. This has elements of the paranormal... And was a little spooky at parts.
