Hopeless (Chestnut Springs, 5)

He doesn't believe that anyone holds her last name against her...so he offers her his.

Beau Eaton is the town prince, a handsome military hero with a tortured past. Bailey Jansen is the outcast bartender, a shy girl from the wrong side of the tracks. He's thirty-five and all man, and she's twenty-two and all...virgin.

He's also her fiancé. Correction: her fake fiancé.

It starts out as a bet, a point for Beau to prove. And it's a win-win: Beau gets a break from his concerned family's prying, and Bailey gets a chance to shed her family's reputation while she saves up to ditch this small town for good. All she has to do is wear his ring, follow his lead, and pretend she can't keep her hands off of him in public. Easy enough, right?

But it's what happens between them in private that blurs all those carefully drawn lines. It's what transpires behind closed doors that doesn't feel like pretending at all. This engagement was supposed to be for show. This agreement? It has an end date.

Beau once told Bailey he'd never fall in love. She's determined to make him change his mind.

Hopeless is book 5 in Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs series. 📚 I enjoyed the story BUT it wasn’t until I was almost done reading that the story REALLY got to me. Beau and Bailey 💕💕 I am so in love with their LOVE story. I felt Bailey’s despair to break away and make a name for herself. I felt Beau’s hopelessness and struggles. This was a beautiful story and I ATE IT ALL THE WAY UP! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3🌶️🌶️🌶️ If you love tropes like small town romance, shaky pasts, and fake engagement along with great characters and interconnected stories…. READ this book! Favorite Quotes: “You fill me with purpose. Lifting you up gives me a reason. Seeing you smile makes me feel whole.” “We’re symbiotic, you and me. Without you, this version of me doesn’t exist.” “My pain disappears when I’m with you.”

I’m pretty disappointed I am finished with this series.. I was l getting really used to being in Chestnut Springs and was feeling very invested and as I predicted, Beau ripped my heart out. Since I read these in order, I was aware of what he had gone through and knew there was going to be a lot of emotion for his story. What I didn’t anticipate was Bailey and how much my heart cracked for her story as well. Although it was all very touching to see them both grow and come together, it was a lot of “woah is me” at times. The age gap was also a bit much for me especially with Bailey’s inexperience but all that being said, I was obsessed with how sure Beau was of Bailey and I always enjoy a good fake engagement 😏

What a way to wrap up the series. Beau and Bailey are so genuine and their story truly is captivating. The mental health aspect and PTSD that Beau is experiencing is something that is so heartbreaking. I felt for Beau and the fact that he wanted to help someone, make the town folk think of her in a better light, despite what he is going through, he is a hero. Beau is also super freaky! These Easton boys!

The fake fiancé is something that was a little out of left field but reading it more, it made sense and kept me so intrigued.

Elsie wrote this story so incredible. The outer scars, heartbreak and the healing, definitely felt this in my heart. LOVED this story!

I don’t buy that this is a couple who will stay together once either of them decides to finally get some therapy
