Confess: A Novel

An edgy, sexy” (Booklist) story where love battles against betrayal, and every confession hides a dangerous secret—from the beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author of Regretting You, Verity, and It Ends with Us.

Auburn Reed's life is one meticulously constructed plan after another. But when she stumbles into Owen Gentry’s art studio, a chance encounter unravels a connection she cannot deny. Owen’s art, created from anonymous confessions, carries an eerie weight, its beauty laced with sorrow and truths too unsettling to ignore. Auburn is drawn to both the man and his mysterious work, and she’s willing to risk everything to know more.

But Owen has his own confession. His past is shrouded in secrets that could destroy everything Auburn believes about him. As choices made in the shadows threaten to unravel the delicate bond they’ve created, Auburn soon finds herself trapped in a labyrinth of lies, where love seems as dangerous as it is irresistible.

Raw, intense, and brimming with feeling, Confess takes us on a heart-wrenching journey where trust is a fragile weapon in the battle to hold onto what matters most—and true love and family are bonds that can never be broken.

OMG, Owen Mason Gentry. This book.
So... I’ve officially started and finished my first two ever Colleen Hoover (CoHo) books all within a single day. To say I love her writing and stories would be putting it mildly. There is just something about the way that Colleen Hoover writes characters, where it’s impossible not to feel a deep connection to them. Her writing is poetic in a way that everything comes back full circle, it’s absolutely beautiful. Not to mention the fact that the confessions from the story were submitted to CoHo anonymously IRL! How cool is that?! I can officially say I’ve joined the CoHo bandwagon and I don’t see that changing anytime soon!

Really enjoyed this book, it had me hooked from the start with a sinister edge which turned out not to be as sinister as thought and was actually really lovely. Some bits throughout the book that took me by surprise and were well written. Would recommend.
