City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments) Book Three

Clary and her allies risk everything to save the world in the searingly passionate third book in the New York Times and internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. City of Glass is a Shadowhunters novel.

To save her mother’s life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters—never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family’s past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he’s willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City—whatever the cost?

ALSO LOVE THE COVER It was a little hard to read... just a bit. But it made up for it at the end. I just struggle with conflict especially when it's between main character and love interest.... but at the end amazing twist!

God. Clary really started this book off rough and I'm glad everyone called her out because her behavior was so grating. Simon, on the other hand, is becoming a decent character in his own right save for the fact that a lot of it felt sudden and out of left field. Wish it had been more gradual and seen in the story.

The climax felt anticlimactic. It was so quick and lacked all the tension the previous books had, leaving me feeling like I had missed something. I actually went back to make sure I hadn't so I felt unsatisified with the ending of this one and kind of uninterested to know what happens next.

Side note: Why are the epilogues so long?! Legitimate things happen in these sections and yet they're granted lesser importance by not making them just another chapter. From a writing standpoint, I could see why this exists, but the way modern storytelling works, it just doesn't make sense.

She wants him...he wants her...they each can't have that forbidden fruit...or can they? To add to the mix, they have to fight off their attraction to each other while saving their universe and mankind. Oh, did I mention the father is truly as evil as they come? Non stop action.

This books was great. I love fantasy adventure stories. Vampires. Werewolves. Warlocks. Demons. Awesome.

The characters are easy to get attached too and I love being able to see everyone point of view. There is so much to follow and so many different things it just makes the story really great. All the details and twists and turns. It's the making of an epic story.

I really want this to be made into a movie. Like really really badly.

I enjoyed how this book was incredibly fast. Once everything started going it was difficult to put down. Book number 2 spent too much time obsessing over the relationship between Clary and Jace. This book had that element, but I was more interested in what was happening everywhere else within the story. I was grateful there was a lot of other story for the reader to focus on.

In the Mortal Instruments series I have enjoyed this book the most. I will admit I still haven't finished the books, but I did like that this one ended. The stories were tied off and it would be easy if I were so inclined to stop reading here. I will admit to enjoying Ms. Clare's stories enough to continue.
