This series has the most perfect twist and turns throughout it. I love the detail and background added in to each character and the sudden change of events. Being caught off guard by several twists in the storyline was one of my favorite parts, however if you read it do not stop reading because of a twist! I was SO beyond upset when one of the first major twists came about and debated quitting reading the series, but I continued and am so grateful I did! The mixture of the shadow world and real world paired with the romance side of the storyline makes this series so perfect in my opinion. It’s one of my favorites to reread and recommend to all of my fellow romance/fictional book lovers!
Audiobook listen. I enjoyed the series, but felt it got better as it went along. The first book was a little young. I also got the ick with the whole “siblings” plot point so I’m glad that was cleared up. I never fully believed they were related, but it’s still kind of disturbing. I didn’t read the Infernal Devices series until after finishing this whole series, so the last two books didn’t have as much of an emotional impact as I think they would have otherwise, knowing Jem’s backstory. I am happy with who ends up with who, romance wise.
I know I’m pretty late to the Shadowhunter party, but nothing was ever spoiled of this series for me, so I had quite the emotional rollercoaster! I only rate this lower because of the sibling thing, and the lack of spice in a Romantasy (just personal preference).
This series was something out of this world. Even though I'd get annoyed by Clary sometimes, I still loved it. Characters were relatable and Cassandra Clare made this world come alive.
The struggles that Jace has within himself, Alex, and Isabella too, were all relatable and made me feel what and why they were feeling certain ways throughout the series.
