City of Fallen Angels (Mortal Instruments, Book 4)

Trust is dangerous, and to love is to destroy. Plunge into the fourth installment in the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series and “prepare to be hooked” (Entertainment Weekly).
The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.
But nothing comes without a price.
Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. Not to mention that he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other one.
When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.
Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

After the prequel: Clockwork Orange, Ms. Clare decided to revisit our Shadowhunter clan. It picks up where we last left off and this time, more of Simon. As you recall, he was last made into a vampire. Jace had cut a ruin into Simon's forehead to protect him and thusly saved Simon. Simon did die...even for a little while. Simon is dating both Isabella (Shadowhunter) and Maia (the werewolf). He's in a rock band and still lives with his mother.
Simon rocked in this book. He and Izzy fell in love. Mai and Jordan (Kyle) are back to speaking to each other. Lillith is the mother of all dead babies retrieved Sebastian's body and tried to use Simon to bite Bast and then exchange blood so that Bast can live. Turns out She is Bast's blood mother. It was her blood in Bast that made his the devious Bastard that he is..was..shall be...
Lillith went into Jace's mind and dreams and controlled him. She then had him be the counterbalance to Bast because in the last book, Jace died. It was Angel Raziel who granted Clary's wish...to have Jace live. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. They are each other's counter part. One can not live without the other.
All bad guys get killed except Bast and Camille. Cami escapes and Bast mind bends Jace to do the final ritual act...blood. The ending is ... they become one. They merged.
Simon at the end realizes, he really needs to tell his mom the truth. He is a vampire. TBC

I missed these characters.
Glad I finally picked this story up again.
My previous reviews for this series are dumb. Clearly written in haste. All copy and pasted. I read the first three before being apart of goodreads so they're all marked as read on the same day.
Past me was stupid.

The third book ended so well. I am not sure if I am disappointed in this book because I enjoyed number three and the Clockwork books and this was nowhere as good as those, or if I just did not like this story. There were moments which were fun and I did manage to get involved in what was happening. Despite the end being predictable I did enjoy the climax and parts of what came after, but then the book ended and I wondered really did she need to actually go there? We couldn't have that happen in any other way?
My last reading session was 1 hour and 20 minutes. I finished reading at around 7pm 3/18/22. I was almost done at 2am on the same day, but I was so sleepy that I had to go to sleep.
