Brimstone is Book 2 in the Fae and Alchemy series by author Callie Hart. I honestly don’t know how I feel about this ending! 🤔 This book was 660 pages. 📑
In the end, I was literally thinking…
Huh? Like what, like huh?! 🤬
What about this? 🤯
What happened with them? 😳
WTH does that mean? 😩
The spice was spicing… 🌶️
The vibes were sometimes vibing…. 🥰 other times confusing. 🤦🏾♀️ Lots of parts left me lost in the sauce! 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏾♀️
The ending… well… I’m still like…
WHAT? WAIT? WHAT? 🤔🤷🏽♀️😱
I was so stinking excited to read Brimstome because I LOVED Quicksilver! But I didn’t LOVE Brimstone. It was just OKAY…
Fave Characters:
Carrion… enjoyed his character. ❤️
Onyx… my heart shattered. 💔
Archer… love this character ❤️
Favorite Quote:
“We were separate beating chambers of the same heart now.”

It was very good book. better than the first one. I was transported to a different world. I didn’t want it to end. So much new information and so much detail in the writing that it felt like I was Saeris experiencing her emotions
This book was hard to rate. The first half was admittedly a little slow and didn’t hook me the same way Quicksilver did. But it definitely picked up in the second half, with the third act leaving MY JAW ON THE FLOOR AT EVERY TURN OF THE PAGE. That ending?! Holy gods. I need book 3 like I need AIR.
I really loved being back in Kingfisher’s world!
Second try... with much support to push me through.
I had Brimstone on pre-order since it was announced and I desperately wanted to deep dive in it like I had done with Quicksilver... but I honestly just could not get THAT into it. I got to Chapter 7, unsatisfied and put it down for months. The only reason why I finished was because I had a friend push me through and also I already spent the money... so why waste my dollars?
Quicksilver was more about the adventure, denying fate, hints of history and unmatched attraction whereas Brimstone is circled around politics, taking down the next target, literally traveling everywhere and head-over-heels devotion (in almost a gag kind of way) soulMATES. Which look, I am totally fine with the "mates" bit. I do love lycan/werewolf/other fae books with that plot line... but I do agree the term "mate" gets a bit overused and starts to lose its meaning.
My other beef:
▲ How on earth is Carrion training with Lorreth if he is on a side quest with Kingfisher?
▲ One would think the amount of time that has passed since Saeris left and the amount of adulting required to live on his own, why is Hayden still so immature? He annoys me and he's freaking useless. He should of just stayed behind.
▲ As much as I love Onyx, he should of remained dead. I said it. I love animal familiars, but honestly the rune provided by the Hazrax is too valuable to give up just like that. She could of saved SO MANY PEOPLE by breaking their oaths or trances or whatever with it. There is too much potential to just save a fox.
▲ I hate the name. I'm sorry, I cannot with it. It took me a bit to get used to King"fisher", which has a cute backstory to Khydan ("Khy"). And I just can't get over how quickly Saeris just changes which name to use AND nicknames him. Like girl, what? Also, isn't the whole idea of a real name supposed to be a secret? Saeris is over here dropping it left and right.
▲ How on earth does Fisher not know his real name but know he is a high fae/demi-god?
One star for Carrion because his adventure with Kingfisher was actually golden. Half star for sacrificing the fox. Quarter star for trying to expand the plot with the politics (because that is no easy thing to do), quarter star for Fisher being the shadow daddy that he is and quarter star for Carrion actually trying to develop and be more than just the comic relief. So doing my own math, I give it a seven.
Will I read book 3? I'll think about it but it would definitely be near the bottom of the list.
