Good book club discussions don't happen by accident.  Preparation is often the difference between uncertain pauses after "What did you think of the book" and a lively, engaged conversation.

Thoughtful questions make book club members pause, reconsider, and hopefully have a lot to say, but coming up with those questions is harder than it sounds.  You want to dig into themes without making it feel like a book report. You want to get people talking about the characters like they're real. You want the conversation to go somewhere you didn't expect. That's a lot to figure out on top of actually reading the book.

Bookclubs.com has pulled together over 3,000 discussion question sets for the most popular book club reads out there.  Here's how to find them in the Bookclubs app and website.

How to Find Book Club Questions for Your Book

If your club uses Bookclubs to organize, there's no need to search for discussion guides!  If we have a guide for the book you're reading, you'll find it attached to your meeting in the Bookclubs app.  Just look for the pink-highlighted "Discussion Guide" icon underneath the book title and author on your meeting page. We'll also include a link to the discussion guide in the reminder emails we send out before each meeting.

If you're checking to see if a book has a guide before scheduling your meeting, there are two ways to find book club questions on Bookclubs.com.  You can search for the book at www.bookclubs.com/books.  If we have a set of questions for the book, you'll see a button that says "View Discussion Guide."  Click on the button to be taken to the discussion guide for that book.

If we don't have pre-written discussion questions for the book, you can request them by clicking on "Request Discussion Guide" and entering your email address.  We'll notify you by email if a guide is added!  While we're not able to add discussion guides for every book we get a request for, we use the requests to prioritize which books to create guides for.

You can also search for reading guides by visiting www.bookclubs.com/discussion-guides.  There you can browse the latest reading group guides that have been added to our site, and you can search directly for guides.
