About The Liminal Library
Looking to start a new book club for those located on the Northwest side of Chicago (Portage Park, Jefferson Park, Belmont Cragin, Old Irving Park, and surrounding areas).
This book club is for readers who enjoy literary fiction with a speculative edge, horror with a beating heart, fantasy rooted in folklore, and dystopian stories that feel uncomfortably plausible.
We're interested in books where something is just a little off. A world that operates by unfamiliar rules. A narrator whose reality can't quite be trusted. A monster that reveals something deeply human. A love story that becomes a tragedy. A future that reflects the anxieties of the present.
The stories we choose may feature ghosts, vampires, strange futures, forgotten gods, isolated communities, impossible choices, or unsettling transformation, but they are never strange simply for the sake of being strange.
No age limit, just be mildly to severely weird and willing to meet on Sundays or Mondays once a month at local cafes or bookstores.
