Want to Know a Secret?

By Freida McFadden

From #1 internationally bestselling author Freida McFadden!

Everyone has secrets. Some are worse than others.

Influencer and baking sensation April Masterson knows the secret to the perfect gooey brownies. Or how to make key lime squares that will melt in your mouth. But if you keep watching her offline, you may find out some other secrets about April. Secrets she'd rather you didn't know.

Like... Where did her son go when he snuck out late at night? What was she doing with the local soccer coach behind fogged windows?

And what's buried in her backyard?

April's secrets are enough to destroy her.

I'll make sure of that.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden peels back the layers of a seemingly flawless life to expose a picture of obsession, deception, and the quiet menace that waits just beyond the frame.

A quick read and a perfect palette cleanser, Freida strikes again! By the end, I didn't think it was possible that I would find something to hate about every character, but Freida really impressed me!

YouTube influencer April Masterson is famous for her show Sweet Secrets and her killer brownies. But she’s not one to underestimate the power of the pie. “Desperate times call for apple pie.” In fact, her book club is reading Life of Pi. But “Life is too short to read boring books…We don’t come here to discuss the book. We come here to drink wine and chat about our lives. The book in book club is arbitrary.” April always comes to book club, but she’s got a lot on her plate: her son was accused of pushing the neighbor boy off a slide resulting in a broken arm, she was charged with shoplifting and theft from the PTA silent auction fund, her husband’s pregnant mistress is murdered and April has both motive and a lack of an alibi. It’s been a rough week! But April’s bestie and book club leader Julie also has a lot going on in her life. “I just found out my neighbor and best friend might be a murderer…The thing is, I was a prosecutor. I have stared into the eyes of a lot of horrible people who have done a lot of horrible things. But when I look into April Masterson’s pretty blue eyes, I get a chill. She isn’t just horrible. She isn’t just a murderer. She’s evil. And she’s making her message to me very clear. If I try to hurt her in any way, she will destroy me and everything I care about. And unlike back in my prosecutor days, when I was single and childfree, I have a family I care about now…I don’t know what April is capable of. No, actually, that’s not true. I know exactly what April is capable of. This isn’t going to end well.” “The woman murdered three people. She got her own mother locked up. How could we not talk about that?” Book club discussion is about to get juicy! “The secret to a delicious meal is having someone to cook for,” the secret to a delicious book is having readers to write for, and Freida McFadden’s Want to Know a Secret? is to die for!

Disappointed with the ending and Part 1 took way too long.
