UnSouled (3) (Unwind Dystology)

Teens fight for their humanity in this thrilling third book in the New York Times bestselling Unwind Dystology series by Neal Shusterman.
Connor and Lev are on the run after the destruction of the Graveyard, the last safe haven for AWOL unwinds. But for the first time, they’re not just running away—they’re running towards answers, in the form of a woman Proactive Citizenry has tried to erase from history itself. If they can find her and learn why the shadowy figures behind unwinding are so afraid of her, they may discover the key to ending the unwinding process forever.
Cam, the rewound boy, is plotting to take down the organization that created him. He knows that if he can bring Proactive Citizenry to its knees, it will show Risa how he truly feels about her. And without Risa, Cam is having trouble remembering what it feels like to be human.
With the Juvenile Authority and vindictive parts pirates hunting them, the group’s paths will converge explosively—and everyone will be changed.

I could kick myself. I checked this out from the library and returned it before I had a chance to review. It wasn't even a month ago, but I can't seem to remember a lot of details. I'll do my best...
What I started to enjoy the most about the Unwind Dystology was that after reading the second one, the characters became very clear and very memorable to me. In addition to this, there is always a couple new memorable characters added to the mix. So let's break it down:
Connor
Extremely likeable although I can't pinpoint exactly why. There is just a goodness to him. And just when I want him to be my boyfriend, I start to want him to be my leader instead. It becomes more important with all the talk about the cause.
Connor gets back into the action in this one.
Risa
Extremely likeable and I know why. She is clear headed and not a pile of mush even when involved in the Connor/Risa/Cam love triangle. She is a great example of good old fashioned "girl power."

(Oh, the good old days.)
Lev
Lev and Miracolina were two of my favorite characters in UnWholly. Much to my dismay, Lev is scarce in this book; Miracolina is nonexistent. I am hoping for this to be corrected in the next book.
These were the three original characters.
We also hear more about Starkey (insert potty mouthed choice words here), Bam (insert conflict and confusion here), and Hayden (insert string of hearts here). Sonia reappears, and you will learn more about how unwinding came to be, what the intention of it was originally, etc. There is also more of a build on Cam, who I don't think is going anywhere anytime soon. I didn't love him as much as I did in the second book, but I think that has to do with a loyalty to Connor. Oh and because Cam turns into a little bit of an asshat when he gets jealous. Not cool, Cam. Not cool.
But what I really want to talk about is one of the BRAND SPANKIN' NEW CHARACTERS.
Grace
Grace is the perfect addition for me because I'm not worried about her getting goo-goo eyed over a boy or caught up in one of the dreaded love triangles. Grace is introduced as a bit of a simpleton that is mistreated by her brother. Forgive me, I can't remember her brother's name anymore, but he does team up with Starkey if that tells you anything. Grace proves to be brilliant at games/puzzles and seeing the surface of things that others may think about too much. She is an asset to "the team," and I want MORE OF HER.
Here's the problem.
Although I whipped right through this book, I didn't feel like much really happened. I think the next book with explode; this was just a whole book devoted to leading up to the next one. If it was any other author, I'd be very much so like:

But Mr. Shusterman?

4 Stars and ready for the next one (you better be damn good, #4).

This is book 3 of the Unwind series. I’m not sure if I’m being generous with giving this book three stars.
