I remember whipping right through this. It was that good. I was hooked.
There's a good lesson at the end of this: Don't be an asshat.

Meg Flynn is a troubled 14 yr old. In the first scenes, she has made some spectacularly bad decisions, but her heart is good. She dies after protecting a stranger, though; and this sets in motion Colfer's fantastic chain of events. On her way to the pearly gates (manned by a slightly sarcastic St. Peter), Meg is waylaid and sent back to Earth to add a little more good to her life because she is perfectly balanced between good and evil. Thus begins a race between Lucifer (portrayed as a self indulgent, capricious master) and Meg's desire to be good.
Meg is assigned to help a dying man realize his final 4 wishes, hence the title. Lucifer sends a hapless henchman to derail the plans and thus begins the real story: the never-ending fight between good and evil.
THis was a lot of fun.
