The Eternity Code (Artemis Fowl, Book 3)

By Andrew Donkin, Eoin Colfer, Giovanni Rigano and Paolo Lamanna

The third book in Eoin Colfer's internationally bestselling series about a criminal mastermind and his siege against dangerous, tech-savvy fairies.

"The world that Colfer creates is as vivid and fantastical as any shire, gotham, or galaxy far, far away in recent memory."
Entertainment Weekly

Artemis Fowl is going straight...as soon as he pulls off the most brilliant feat of his career.

At least, that's the plan when he attempts to sell his C Cube, a supercomputer built from stolen fairy technology. When his efforts to broker a deal for the Cube with a powerful businessman go terribly wrong, his loyal bodyguard and friend, Butler, is mortally injured. The only thing that will save him is fairy magic, so once again Artemis must contact his old rival, Holly Short.

It's going to take a miracle to save Butler, and Artemis's luck may have just run out.

I understand why so many youth have been captivated by Artemis. he is a 13 yr old supergenius, alternating between good and greed... like many real 13 yr olds (and 23, 33, 43, 53 and 63 yr olds). He has allied with fairies from the LEP. These Recons have technology far superior to ours. It's fun to just imagine along with Colfer, what the future might hold within technology's realms. The LEPRecon (yes, pronounced the same as leprechaun) most crucial to the story is Capt Holly, who proves a lasting friend to Artemis. In this story, Artemis is duped(or is he) and subsequently dupes an evil technology business owner. Mishaps befall the crew, but technology and quick wits save the day. Colfer does a great job of writing these cartoonish characters. They are truly enjoyable to know. Even numbsculls like Chips and Pecs.

This was a fun read. Artemis is in trouble from the very beginning and must use his vast intellect to save not only himself, but also his most loyal ally. I love how the fairy world is developing in the series. Great imagination.
