Ok, I'll admit that I have never read a comic book before. Or is it a graphic novel? See? I don't even know if there is a difference between the two or not. I'm so ashamed!
I (like many others it appears) only picked this up because I absolutely gushingly adore and love, love, love, loveeeeeeeeeeee the show on AMC. And I still love the show much more. But this was pretty cool, too.
I actually loved reading this and was surprised at how sucked into it I was. It was really easy to follow (and I had some serious doubts that I would be able to follow all those speech bubbles being the...er...n00b I am to comics/graphic novels). The artwork was great - the expressions captured more than the words a lot of the time. There were parts where I was convinced that the artwork was done by different people because the people looked different, and I still haven't sorted out if that is true or not. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
There were a lot of differences (expected), and I appreciated everything the show has done to enhance on the story. Although, I was grateful the show left out: Dale and Andrea getting it on. *shudder* Unless that did happen on the show, and I mentally blocked it out for obvious reasons. *double shudder* Oh, and the language. I wasn't put off by it, and while I was sure I was going to blow up from all the f-bombs, I thought that given the characters' circumstances, it was pretty damn appropriate.
Already ready to check out the next one.
