Imagining setting yourself in as the character and seeing how your family goes on after you die, hoping your loved ones figure out what happened to you as you watch, trying to send signals from your side to the living, was gut-wrenching. I felt this read was psychological. Had to pull myself away sometimes so I didn't confuse reality with imagination.
This was much more interesting than I thought it would be. I knew the plotline from when they made it into a movie and I'd seen it on every list for forever, but I finally decided to pick it up last week. It was touching and beautiful in a million little ways. I think this book will stay with me long after I've put it down.
I cried various times throughout the book and would say that this book was like a roller-coaster of emotions for me. From "damn you Harvey!", "oh...that was interesting", and "poor mom :(" to "GIRL AREN'T YOU MARRIED?" and "Well at least it's over".
This book was a page turner for me! Be prepared to have a box of tissues nearby because of the way the author manages to spin her story and envelop us in her web. Although not based on a true story, it is very believable, especially in today’s worldly events! If you do decide to watch the movie, please do so only after reading the book! I found there were not enough explanations on certain very important details. However, it is still worth watching! I am now curious to read the author’s other two books because I really enjoyed her style of writing! 💜
