The Lovely Bones

"My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973."
So begins the story of Susie Salmon, who is adjusting to her new home in heaven, a place that is not at all what she expected, even as she is watching life on earth continue without her -- her friends trading rumors about her disappearance, her killer trying to cover his tracks, her grief-stricken family unraveling. Out of unspeakable tragedy and loss, The Lovely Bones succeeds, miraculously, in building a tale filled with hope, humor, suspense, even joy.

I am not sure how I feel about the book. I wanted to read it for a long time so I am not sure if the anticipation ruined it for me or not. I didn't dislike the book because of the "not so feel good" topic. I think it was more of the author's style of writing that didn't have me in awe. I will be seeing the movie so maybe it will make me appreciate it more.
I cant say anything about this book that someone else hasn't. It did leave me feeling conflicted and upset and emotionally drained.
I loved both the book and the movie. The movie makes me cry like a baby, since I already knew the ending the book did not have the same effect on me. Regardless I think this may be one of my favorites.
I can't put this book down! It's incredible.
Superbly written with a unique perspective
