Most of the characters were cardboard, one-dimensional stereotypes of the rich and famous. Greed, avarice, and of course, male predators and teenage rape victims. I would just once like to read a story without women being victimized. Leo, the British police detective, was the only character that I halfway liked. His ex-wife, on the other hand, was a shrill and almost unbelievable character devised to make Leo’s life miserable. Ffion, the other half of the detective team, was very hard to like. And it looks like the author is building a book series on her? At 400+ pages, with the confusion of too many characters and not much to recommend for it, I’d say continuing this series is a firm ‘no’ for me.
