A long-ago accident—and a visitor from out of the blue. . .
Stephanie and Patrick are adjusting to life with their colicky twin girls. The babies are a handful, but even as Stephanie struggles with the disorientation of sleep deprivation, there's one thing she's sure of: she has all she ever wanted.
Then Erica, a woman from Patrick's past, appears and makes a disturbing accusation. Patrick had always said his first wife's death was an accident, but now Erica claims it was murder.
Patrick insists he's innocent, that this is nothing but a blackmail attempt. Still, Erica knows things about Patrick--things that make Stephanie begin to question her husband. Stephanie isn't sure what, or who, to believe. As Stephanie's trust in Patrick begins to falter, Patrick stands to lose everything. Is Patrick telling the truth--is Erica the persuasive liar Patrick says she is? Or has Stephanie made a terrible mistake?

I've read a few books by this author and I like her books. She writes modern day mystery thrillers with suspense and twists. In this one, The End of Her, someone's past is finally catching up to them. Patrick is a successful partner in a architectural firm. Stephanie is adjusting to her life as a stay at mom to twin colicky girls. They have a comfortable life. Suddenly, out of the blue, a woman shows up from Patrick's past with accusations that could destroy his life/family/career. Erica is cold and calculating. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
I liked the first 3/4 of this book. It was a fast, compulsive read, even if a bit unbelievable. But there were too many extra characters that didn't really add to the story. I really disliked the ending. It was too rushed and fell short for me.

I received an ARC of The End of Her by Shari Lapena from @NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The End of Her was overall a disappointment for me. Unfortunately, we just didn't jive. I found the book hard to follow with the overwhelming amount of characters, and the writing style to me seemed 3rd person. When Phillip did this, or Hannah was thinking... You get the drift, I found it difficult to keep histories and characters straight, and was often lost when I had to break and return to the book at a later time. This did get easier as the book went on, which could have been a result of the time I spent consecutively reading it or because I was becoming more and more familiar with the character's personalities. The story that lies within is completely insane. I found myself asking how probable something like this was. Do people and entanglements like this really exist?
Overall, my dislike for this book was based on personal struggle. If you decide to give it a shot, I do hope you enter into the commitment with some patience.

The story was interesting with twists and turns. Not very complex. Easy read. Ending felt abrupt.
I love Shari Lapena books! This book was not my favorite of hers but still a good read. The majority of the plot was predictable but it was very interesting how it all came together. It would recommend for a mystery/suspense book.
Such a good book! I was hooked but I didn't give it a full rating because it felt a bit rushed.
