Welcome to Stanhope. A safe neighborhood. A place for families.

William Wooler is a family man, on the surface. But he’s been having an affair, an affair that ended horribly this afternoon at a motel up the road. So when he returns to his house, devastated and angry, to find his difficult nine-year-old daughter, Avery, unexpectedly home from school, William loses his temper.

Hours later, Avery’s family declares her missing.

Suddenly Stanhope doesn’t feel so safe. And William isn’t the only one on his street who’s hiding a lie. As witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true, Avery's neighbors become increasingly unhinged.

Who took Avery Wooler?

Nothing will prepare you for the truth.

I loved the ending to this book. So satisfying. Quick read and page turner. I didn’t have a favorite character. But I did love to hate the characters. A lot of unnecessary plot lines in my opinion.

Everyone here is lying had a fair rating at best amongst the group. Was an easy read, the book has many main characters and this may have left less to the imagination in light of solving the mystery. The villains age was also questionable for some members but otherwise more than half would recommend to others. This was our first Bookclub book.

Really enjoyed reading this book. It kept me engaged the whole time. There was just the right amount of character building without it being "annoyingly long" which I really liked. Pros: Fast paced, did not want to put it down, interesting family dynamic Cons: Some parts where very unrealistic, character holding Avery was brought up out of nowhere and sort of thrown in the book. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If Avery was 13 years old as opposed to NINE years old, it would have more credibility to it. As a mom of a 9 year old and a 14 year old, I can't imagine my 9 year old thinking of these things that Avery thought of. But I can see how an older child in the teens can come up with these constant lies and thought process.

Confusing at the start cause there’s so many characters, but was pretty easy to get involved in their personal lives and situations. I really like how every character had their own plot going on within the general plot. Would’ve been more realistic if Avery was older, but still a great story and unexpected ending. Very satisfying.

It was really good! I would recommend it, however it just wasn't very memorable. I didn't feel super attached to any of the characters.
