So, I know three stars doesn't seem like a lot for the last book in this series, but I assure you it is. My love for book three of almost every trilogy usually falls to about a "one." It seems authors don't understand how to bring a story full circle; but not James Dasher. We end where we began - in the maze. That is a truly great twist to a well-written series.

We are finally at the end of the trials - WICKED has completely broken Thomas as a person. They've taken everything from him - his family, his friends, and at times, his sanity. He has no memories of life before "The Maze" and he struggles with dreams to that hint at his life before the trials began. He's lost it all to the "Flare." The plague that is destroying their world.

He just can't take anymore, and when put to the final test his will to survive is almost taken over by utter exhaustion. But in true Dashner fashion, there's one more trick up his sleeve. Even though Thomas elects not to have his memory restored when WICKED so graciously offers this - the backfire is on them. Because Thomas remembers; not everything but enough to know he shouldn't trust WICKED anymore now than he ever has since he rode up the elevator in the box that changed his life.

The truth is lurking and it's up to Thomas, and his friends once reunited, to save them all; a challenge he'd risk anything to do. The time for lies is over - Thomas seeks the truth, but the truth is often far worse than imagined. We sometimes have to remember it is what we wanted.

Overall, a good ending to a series, but Dashner only gets three stars because he drug out the final battle scene for too many chapters. I despise that - movies do it too. We get it. Their in battle. It's rough. When it goes on for page after page after page of new conflicts popping up quite unrealistically, I start skimming. And I'm not alone. After my son finished the series - he had the same complaint...and he's eleven. Keep it succinct writers - we understand war all too well and rarely is the "really - that's happening" moment in a battle that noteworthy. Too long.

I may read The Kill Order which is the advertised prequel to the series, but I've not jumped on that yet. My son said it was too boring and he put it down. We'll see.

A good dystopian series, better than a lot of them out there right now. Unique.

3.75 stars. I enjoyed this final installment of the series more than the previous book. It was full of forward-moving action and better character development, but most importantly, less Teresa. The only thing I would have liked was more resolution. It was quickly wrapped up in the end. Overall, a good series, especially for younger teens, with lots of action.

Nooooo how is it over?? I know there is a prequel, but I want more to thee ending this THIS!

It is fantastic. It ends like it should, summing up and giving closure to the main plot. James Dashner really stepped it up in this book, making it darker and the characters more real. He makes sure to create his characters with flaws, shown in multiple parts throughout the books. This helped me to fall in love with the characters and made their story more realistic, in an unreal time.

This book was a bit confusing once they got to Denver, and I would've appreciated some more information about the AD Jansen character, as well as Jorge and Brenda, and the WICKED government overall. I suppose that just might be me as an experienced reader coming at a YA book, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The ending was a bit abrupt, especially when it jumped right into the epilogue, and I was disappointed to find out that "The Kill Order" is a prequel to the whole series, and not a fourth sequel. I will live! Overall this is a great series for young readers who like action and minimal romance!

My poor little Newt-y-Newt. I love him.
Why is Thomas so dumb. Ugh.
Brenda sucks, I hate the forced "relationship"
