Survive the Night: A Novel

It’s November 1991. Nirvana's in the tape deck, George H. W. Bush is in the White House, and movie-obsessed college student Charlie Jordan is in a car with a man who might be a serial killer.

I'm a huge fan of Riley Sager. I was in a reading funk and recovering from Lasik so I downloaded this audiobook for easy listening.

It wasn't my favourite, but not my least favorite thriller either. I didn't see the twist, I should have tbh. The ending was a bit weird, and some of it didn't really make sense to me. Like how the grandma knew to hire a bounty hunter and wasn't consumed by guilt? How she was fine tying up her granddaughters best friend to seek revenge? She just seemed psychotic.

Charlie is plain stupid as well.... Idk who would accept a ride share from a straight up stranger when there's a serial killer on the loose? Aren't there's busses?

Gaslighting is a huge theme in this novel, which kept things interesting for sure.

It was fine, 3/5. Again, not my fave, but Sager is a fantastic writer and maybe this one just wasn't one of her best.

I was also in and out of listening to the audiobook so I could be missing some details as well.

Unreliable narrator and a good twist!
