Lock Every Door: A Novel

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
“Looking for a suspense novel that will keep you up until way past midnight? Look no further than Lock Every Door, by Riley Sager.”—Stephen King
No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen’s new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. Recently heartbroken and just plain broke, Jules is taken in by the splendor of her surroundings and accepts the terms, ready to leave her past life behind.
As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid, who comfortingly reminds her of the sister she lost eight years ago. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems and the dark history hidden beneath its gleaming facade is starting to frighten her, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story...until the next day, when Ingrid disappears.
Searching for the truth about Ingrid’s disappearance, Jules digs deeper into the Bartholomew's sordid past and into the secrets kept within its walls. What she discovers pits Jules against the clock as she races to unmask a killer, expose the building’s hidden past, and escape the Bartholomew before her temporary status becomes permanent.

Readers say *Lock Every Door* is a heart-racing, suspenseful thriller that keeps them on the edge of their seat with its gripping tension and jaw-drop...
Not impressed with this book at all.
I was closer to the 60% mark for this book. I had to let it go--it was too slow for me and I just didn't like Jules' character all that much. Plus, I guessed a few things at the beginning. Dragging things out doesn't make the story more compelling and while I understand she's motivated to find clues based on her past experience with her sister but like she's not invincible to the dangers.
Also--I dislike the use of over foreshadowing in books. Without it, the book could have been a little better. At least for my reading experience.
With so much hidden history of the building, the secrecy, the money under the table and the attraction to select loners and drifters as "house sitters" ?? Too many red flags 🚩🚩 to ignore in my opinion.

Sagar books are quick paced thriller/suspense books that don't require much brain power to follow along. His books are like watching a solid B thriller movie, so not award winning material. As long as you don't expect too much from his books, then they won't disappoint. And this book didn't disappoint.
Heart racing, all suspense that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.. this book was absolutely thrilling. Talk about having me on the edge of my seat.. if you like suspense and thrillers you must read this book!!
Another gem by Riley Sager! I had a really hard time putting it down and just when I thought the main character had figured everything out, Sager threw in a twist! Kept me captive from beginning to end!
