She's Not Sorry" by Mary Kubica is a gripping psychological thriller about Meghan Michaels, an ICU nurse and single mom, whose life unravels when a comatose patient may have been pushed rather than jumped. As Meghan investigates, dark secrets emerge—both from the patient’s past and Meghan’s own life—putting her and her daughter at risk. A tense, twisty tale of trust, danger, and the weight of the truth.
Okay, let me set the scene: the power went out at my house, and instead of panicking about the Wi-Fi, I grabbed She's Not Sorry—and WOW. I read the entire thing in one sitting, start to finish, in about five hours. I was completely hooked. Honestly, even if the lights had been on and Netflix was calling my name, I still would’ve chosen this book. That’s how good it was.
I’ve always been a Mary Kubica fan (she really knows how to mess with your mind in the best way), but this one? This one shot straight to the top of my favorites. The suspense was tight, the twists were sharp, and the pacing? Chef’s kiss. I love a thriller that doesn’t waste time dragging things out—and this one got right into it. Meghan was such a strong lead, and the unraveling of secrets kept me flipping pages like a woman possessed.
If you’re into fast-paced psychological thrillers with strong women, messy secrets, and a plot that actually delivers, this one’s for you. Just make sure you don’t have anything else planned—you won’t want to stop once you start.
Was not my favorite
I truly enjoyed this one! Looking for that plot twist that you didn’t see coming, and an ending that could go either way? This one is for you.
Meet Meghan Michaels, an experienced ICU nurse, recently divorced and raising her 16-year-old daughter, Sienna. Meghan and Ben, her ex-husband, share custody of Sienna. When Meghan goes to work, she is assigned to take care of a suicide patient who recently jumped off a bridge, landing twenty feet below on the train wrecks.
The patient's name is Caitlin, and she's in a critical condition and she may not survive. As Caitlin lays in her coma state, the hospital has not been able to contact next of kin for her. Caitlin has become the talk of the entire hospital, and Meghan is hesitant to be assigned to this patient because of her own tragic past related to her sisters suicide. However, Meghan finds herself drawn into Caitlin's life, forming a bond with her family members, who share their daughter's secrets, startling Meghan as Caitlin might escape from her dark past and insisting she's seen a struggle between a suspicious man and Caitlin, which leads the officers to presume she was pushed. Meghan also notices a suspicious man lurking around Caitlin's room outside of visiting hours.
This is not the only problem that has been on Meghan’s mind. There has been someone women throughout the city. Meghan walks home from the train, and her young daughter is often home alone. When Meghan is entering a meeting for her divorcees support group, she runs into an old high school friend. Natalie, Nat, is seeking support with her current separation from an abusive husband. Meghan, with her caretaking way, wants to be there for Nat. Is Nat who she says she really is, or is Meghan being scammed?
This plot twist, I did not see coming. The author had me so invested in Meghan that I was blindsided. I enjoyed the entire book, and I felt it was well written. I have read many books by Mary Kubica and this one is headed to the top.

Holy cow! Did NOT see those twists coming! The Barnes & Noble edition has an extra chapter that just adds to the awesomeness that is this book.
So great. Def another whiplash because I didn't see any of that happening.
