It's Not Her: A Twisty Thriller about Two Families and a Chilling Lake Resort Crime from the Author of Local Woman Missing

The twists in this one just kept coming! I thought I had it all figured out several times, and I was still wrong at the end. I don't think I've ever read a Mary Kubica book with this many twists and turns, and I loved it! There were some unrealistic parts, but we'll just overlook those.

Suspense builds around not just who is responsible, but what really happened to Reese and how far people will go to hide the truth. Wow wow wow. I feel so bamboozled in the best possible way. I thought I knew what happened and where this book was going and then I didn’t. Rinse and repeat that for the entire book. You literally DO NOT know the truth at all, no matter how much you think you do. My favorite part was the alternating timelines of what happens after the incident and what happens in the days leading up to it. Both perspectives come together to give you a fully baked pie of suspense, slowly revealing how everything connects. I love Mary Kubica, so much. This book is wild. Read it if you can.

Mary Kubica has done it again! What a great read that was! I totally got it wrong and the twist was amazing! I will say this book made me sad, reading about the family dynamics! Reading the complexity of each person's personality and going through life! I highly recommend reading!

First book club book woooo!! This is my first book from the author and I really enjoyed it This was a good book with a twist I didn’t expect! I totally thought it was between 3 people. Good pick Meg :)

I had to digest this book for a week before writing my review because I was torn on how to grade it. After the first 90 pages or so, when I had been growing increasingly frustrated with the way the characters actions were described (come on! Nobody waits 20 minutes or more to call 911, when their family members are found murdered with 2 children possibly still in the home with life-threatening injuries), the book became very interesting. The character development started to work, in spite of not being able to really connect with Reese. The story got suspenseful. I started to have difficulty putting the book down. Then the plot twists started to come out, and each one was stupider than the previous one in terms of believability. It wasn't surprising. It was just stupid. It could have been a great book if she didn't force unbelievable plot twists into an otherwise suspenseful and entertaining book. It wouldn't be the worst thing to have an author just have the most obvious suspect be the real perpetrator?
