This book is not just a romance — it’s an emotional experience. From the very beginning, Parachutes pulls you into a world where love is intense, complicated, and deeply human. The connection between Tahli and Vin unfolds in a way that feels raw and real, not rushed or idealized. Their story explores what it means to love someone while still carrying trauma, fear, and unhealed wounds. What truly sets this book apart is its emotional depth. It doesn’t shy away from hard topics: grief, mental health, infidelity, loyalty, obsession, self-worth, and the consequences of loving someone more than you love yourself. Every character feels layered — even the ones you may not like. Sophie’s storyline, in particular, is heartbreaking and haunting, forcing the reader to confront uncomfortable truths about insecurity, comparison, and emotional neglect. The symbolism of the “parachute” is powerful and unforgettable. It represents safety, trust, and the hope that someone will catch you when you fall — but the book also asks an important question: What happens when two people are falling at the same time? This story made me feel everything: joy, anger, sadness, empathy, frustration, and reflection. It lingered in my mind long after I finished, sparking conversations about relationships, boundaries, and healing. That’s the mark of a truly great book. If you’re looking for a love story that’s beautiful, messy, emotional, and thought-provoking — this is it. 10 stars, no hesitation.

Wish I could rate it 7.5. It started off slow, but I love the build up. I kinda wanna cry. Vin and Tahli seem to be made to one another, and I'm hoping that by the end of the series they'll make their way back. So much was revealed at the end. Wtf happened to Jay? Is Lexi still in the picture at all? I kinda felt that Lexi was hella envious of Tahli but hoped they'd remain friends. And Abs... what's going on with her? What happened in the between? I felt for Vin after his dad passed. He was hurting and he went to an old vice to try to feel anything other than his pain. I even wanted Tahli to just hear him out and forgive him. But what happened with Sophie that produced a child?! Can't wait to see what happens in book two.

This was good! College girl. Hood boy. They cross paths and what ignites between them is undeniable. But old habits die hard and goal oriented drive can make for one sided judgement. What do you do with that combination? Especially once love grows. This book shows how people can be wrong and right at the same time. It shows how human we really are. It shows how we can sabotage our own happiness. It shows how we can push and pull with one another in a way that can be triggering then have the audacity to pass judgement when we created the circumstances for failure. It is simply REAL.

This was a very good read with a roller coaster of emotions throughout the entire book. It goes back and forth between the past and present. Dalvin aka Vin 24yrs old, just coming from a 5yr bid and attempting to turn his life around. He meets Tahli who is 20yrs old, at a BBQ at his friend Munch’s place, who has a younger brother, Jay who is good friends with Tahli. She has her crew of friends: Abby, Paige, Lexie, Jay, and Danny. They were college friends and really looked out for each other. From the 1st meeting between Vin and Baby Love (as he called her) there were sparks, however each of them were still in lingering situation-ships.. he with Sophie and she with Kevin. They both fall hard and fast for each other & ends the other relationships. Neither went well, but they progressed and were faced with lots of challenges and trust issues. Vin had a self-sabotage guilt as he felt his Baby Love was so perfect. Fast forward and they 15yrs into marriage, 3 kids later and on his way back home from a trip.. police knock at the door to inform Tahli that an 11yr old boy found his mother deceased and so he was brought to his next of kin, which he informed was his daddy Dalvin Sr and he was Dalvin Jr.. and then Tahli crashed out.. Vin is arrested for the murder of Sophie because of a letter she wrote and left.. then it forwards to future again, where Tahli is now engaged to someone else and Vin is coming to pick up the kids.. talk about heartbreaking 💔 can’t wait to see what happens in Book2
