One of the Girls

A twisty psychological thriller from internationally bestselling author Lucy Clarke, One of the Girls is the delicious story of a bachelorette trip on a stunning Greek island... that ends in murder.
It was supposed to be the perfect weekend away. Six very different women travel to a sun-drenched Greek island for a bachelorette party. From the shimmering ocean views to the quaint tavernas and whitewashed streets, the vacation feels like the ideal escape. But dangerous undercurrents run beneath the sunset swims and midnight cocktails – because each of the women is hiding a secret, and soon their masks begin to slip. Someone is determined to make sure that Lexi’s marriage never happens – and that one of the women doesn’t leave the island alive.
This scorching thriller signals the arrival of a major breakout talent. One of the Girls examines the pressures and joys of female friendship . . . as well as the deadly consequences when a relationship goes wrong.

What happens on a Hen's Weekend stays at the Hens's Weekend!
So begins Lexi's Hen Weekend. Or bachelorette party as I learned at the stunning Greek island of Aegos (Look it up on the map. Spoiler: It's made up) She and five of her friends spend the weekend in a huge house off the coast in Greece. The book is told with POV of all six characters alternating and soon we learn of lies and deception and we have some interior motives going on...... Deadly!
The biggest character is the actual island. Lucy Clark does a great job of making you feel like you are actually on a Greek island for a Hen's Weekend (Ok, the biggest negative may be the overuse of Hen's Weekend) You feel like you are on the sea and it does seem to take you away for awhile.
The book starts really slow. You have to trudge for awhile to get to when the book starts to take off. Which is pretty far into it in my opinion. This could be from the multiple POVs which may be excessive. While needed for the plot some were just not interesting. I skimmed much more then I usually do.
But when you get to the end it does get really entertaining. I didn't catch the twist at all. I would ultimately rate it 3.5 stars rounded to 4 for a entertaining last 1/3.

The clues given to throw you off track became so predictable and unnecessary it just stretched out the book and made it go slower. Has the kernel of a great mystery but in trying to be a gotcha book at times I just wanted it to end.
What a great read! So easy and fun to devour! So many secrets and twists! I loved how developed the characters were and how well the story took form as it went on. Highly recommend to lovers of psychological thrillers! The Grecian setting really took me away and I loved every minute of it!

This is my first book from Lucy Clarke. I really enjoyed it! The characters are relatable and the story had great twists! I typically don’t enjoy following so many main characters but the book was written to that it’s seamless and easy to follow. Loved the ending
