Welcome to Bloodwing Academy.

Expect magic. Expect competition. Expect blood.

I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for suffering.

I'm Medra Pendragon, last of the dragon riders--or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything, and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games.

But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow: cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like he owns me, but I'm not going down without a fight.

Bloodwing isn't just a school--it's a battlefield. Highbloods fight for power, and if you're weak, you're dead.

Between deadly competitions, lies that could get me executed, and a dragon-shaped secret looming over my head, all I have to do is survive. Easy, right? Except I'm starting to think the real danger isn't the academy--it's what I'm becoming in this twisted game of power.

And Blake? He might just be the one who pushes me over the edge.

They think they can control me. They think they can use me. But they have no idea what they've awakened.

One of my goals this year is to read more fantasy and I really enjoyed this reading experience - it's dark, it's sexy, it's propulsive and the characters feel real (*very seductive enemies to lovers trope as well...) I appreciate that this is well-written and pulls you in right away - you're invested, you care about the protagonist - the female outsider (Medra Pendragon) with the flaming red hair in a land full of vampirical hierarchies and conspiracies...this is layered and complex and enjoyable - lots of heavy themes and insecurities are explored as well - I thoroughly enjoyed being in this world and am looking forward to spending more time with these characters and witnessing the "big reveals" as the story continues to unfold and unravel...

The world-building takes up a major chunk of the first book in this series. The character, the enemies-to-lovers plot(greatly represented), and loads of fighting and breaking bones! Please use your imagination to understand the political aspect within the vampire and blightborn community. The great part about the writing was that it kept me engaged till the end. Overall a must try

I am loving this series. I like dark academia meets Hogwarts feel. The characters are well developed. I found myself rooting for many of the secondary characters. This is a strong, independent FMC character story. This is the first book of a series so it sets the stage ...be ready to read more books as the story develops. There is spice but not so much that it overpowers the story. The FMC and MMC are not necessarily ending up together...we shall see how this all plays out.

This book took a while to draw me in. Early on, I wasn’t quite sure where the story was headed, and I found myself increasingly frustrated with the FMC. However, once the narrative shifted to a dual POV, the pacing and engagement improved significantly. The final 200 pages were easily the strongest part of the book. I plan to continue with the series, though I’m hoping the next installment shows noticeable improvement.
