He's the GOAT of the NFL. She's a hot-headed reporter who despises him. They're in the same small town for the summer. What could possibly go wrong?

I'm more than aware of the responsibilities that come with being a quarterback in the NFL.

The upside-I get to do what I love every day, which is play football.

And I make more money than I know what to do with.

The downside-everyone wants a piece of me, and the press stalks me ruthlessly.

And one reporter in particular, Brinkley Reynolds, has crossed a line.

She takes things too far.

So yeah, I have her escorted out of the press conference.

Imagine my surprise when the same woman walks into the coffee shop in the small town where I've gone to get some privacy for the summer.

I accuse her of stalking me.

She calls me every name in the book before proceeding to make me feel very unwelcome in Cottonwood Cove.

Her hometown.

The place where she tucked tail and ran after I'd unknowingly gotten her fired.

So now I'm enemy number one.

That's fine with me.

I'm not the biggest fan of her either.

She's equal parts stubborn and aggravating.

But she happens to be the sexiest woman I've ever laid eyes on.

So I try to make amends.

I'm not the devil after all.

But she won't give me the time of day unless I agree to give her my story.

One I've fought hard to protect since the day I started playing professional ball.

I don't owe Brinkley Reynolds anything.

So why am I considering giving her everything?

“There were a lot of athletes out there who had a ton of natural talent…Then there were the athletes who worked hard and were committed. And then there was Lincoln Hendrix. The man was next level. It was no wonder that he was the GOAT of the NFL. He deserved the title, and that wasn’t always the case in professional sports. The hardest worker didn’t always win, but this man—he’d earned it.” “He’s got the biggest heart in the NFL…He’s the hottest thing in the NFL, he makes more money in a week than most will make in their lifetime, and he was number three on The Sexiest Man Alive list this year…I wasn’t easily impressed by men. But this particular man was the whole package. He had the looks, the confidence, and the swagger to balance it all out. And I despised him… obviously.” Dating the GOAT isn’t easy, “especially if you’re trying to make a name for yourself as a sports journalist…I’ll just be the reporter that wrote Lincoln Hendrix’s story, and then when news breaks that we’re dating, I’ll just be [his] girlfriend.” He can’t help that he’s famous and that he’s “amazing and the greatest of all time—but I need to shine, too…I’d never been that girl that worried about shining. Worried that someone would dim my light. I’d always been confident in my capabilities. But Lincoln’s fame was bigger than anything I’d ever dealt with.” “Sometimes…we aren’t strong enough to find the courage to make things right, but it’s never too late to say I’m sorry…You couldn’t always be on top. You had to swallow the losses and stay humble through the wins. Work hard every…day, and remember that there was always someone younger, faster, and stronger coming up next…You never knew what someone had inside them.” Laura Pavlov’s On the Shore is “deliciously torturous…Pass me the whipped cream, please. Because I only wanted more."

Thank you to Valentine PR and Laura Pavlov for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Lincoln Hendrix is the greatest quarterback in the NFL... and also a Grade A jerk... or at least that's what Brinkley Reynolds thinks. After invading Lincoln's space in a restroom during a press conference, Brinkley gets fired from her job as a sports reporter. Now, she's moved back home to Cottonwood Cove in order to be close to her family and start looking for a new job. Lincoln is looking for some space during the off season to train and rest up while also trying to decide which team he'll play for next season. His agent offers up his place, which wouldn't you know, is in Cottonwood Cove? What Lincoln doesn't know is that Brinkley Reynolds is Cottonwood Cover royalty. After several run ins and arguments, Brinkley agrees to write Lincoln's story, not knowing that this infuriating man just might be the one to steal her heart.

On the Shore is book 3 in the Cottonwood Cover series, and it's a good one! I have really enjoyed this series, Brinkley and Lincoln's story included! I have literally devoured these books in one sitting I love them so much.

I really adored Lincoln and Brinkley's relationship. Not to mention, I'm a sucker for a sport's romance. I really loved Brinkley's character and how independent and "take charge" she is. I'm always here for a "he falls first" piece. Lincoln being all in, made me melt... not to mention is absolutely adorable relationship with his mother. These two together just made me swoon. And the one thing I really love about small town romances like these are that we keep getting to see the characters from previous books and catch up on their lives. The brothers in this series just do it for me... even the ones that are there by marriage. The text message banter between the siblings is great. I loved how relieved the brothers were when the ban on Lincoln was lifted.

I highly recommend this title and any others in the Cottonwood Cove series!
