This one really had the potential to be 5 stars, compared to the 4 stars I've given the first and second books in this series. The author chickened out and the divorced couple ended up together with barely any conflict.

On top of that, for some reason, she just casually included a scheme led by a private mercenary group to bring down a bunch of banks??? Hello! This book is already quite a bit shorter than the previous two, why didn't we hear more about that?! I literally can't believe she slept on the opportunity to dive deeper into that plot!

This had been on my TBR for a while, and the storyline kept drawing me in. My own relationship has battled these same things, but by the grace of God, with understanding, gentle hearts and loving like Jesus, our relationship has prospered and flourished in spite of and through the hardships, drawing us even deeper in love. I was curious how the couple in this book might choose to handle similar situations, and wondered if there might be anything to learn or gain from this read. While several things in the story spoke to my heart and even fueled some deep and meaningful conversations between Kris and myself, I struggled A LOT with the way things were written. The amount of language and VERY detailed open door scenes just isn’t my cup of tea (in all fairness, it did warn about these things at the very beginning of the book). While I mostly enjoyed watching the fight for love between the MC’s, this book is not one I would probably come back to again, nor will I be reading the rest of the series. This read was a roller coaster of emotions, but the truth that real, true love is ALWAYS worth fighting for is what prevailed and kept me reading to the end. I very reluctantly give this a 3 star (5/10 on Bookclubs), urging anyone interested in diving into this read to note the trigger warnings first. If you’re easily offended by strong language and explicit s$xual content, this book is probably not for you. “I had nothing except faith tethering me to his promises, but wasn’t that the foundation of any relationship? Trust, communication, and faith that the other person loved us and that we could weather any storm together. Dominic and I didn’t work the first time, but sometimes, the strongest things were those that had been broken and healed.”
