I found this to be an easy and enjoyable read. I found the character quite relatable. My favorite line was toward the end "I'm very happy on my own, just happier when I'm with you..."
I loved the dynamics of Applebee's children in the story, her ex, her ex's girlfriend, the colorful cast of friends, her sister, the neighbor and his hard character. So many life experiences all captured in Anna's one storyline. Rediscovering who you are, who you are with others, and who you want to grow to be is something for which it's never too late. ❤️
Book Review: Is She Really Going Out With Him? by Sophie Cousens
Sophie Cousens’ Is She Really Going Out With Him?* pulled me out of a reading slump—a term I discovered through this very book. As someone who has always enjoyed words and cherished well-written stories, this book resonated with me on so many levels.
Cousens’ writing is expressive and impressively relatable. At times, the way she captured emotions made me pause and think, "Will I ever write like this?" The story unfolded like a movie in my mind—scenes and characters vividly coming to life, though I couldn’t quite picture the characters’ faces clearly.
What truly stood out for me was the humor and the light, effortless flow of the writing. While the plot itself was decent, it was Cousens' delightful storytelling style that made the book a standout read. Her witty and engaging prose kept me hooked from start to finish.
This book isn’t just a story—it’s an experience that reminds readers of the joy of simply loving the written word. For me, it was a refreshing and enjoyable escape and I absolutely loved it.
