Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian (Fifty Shades of Grey Series, 4)

E L James revisits the world of Fifty Shades with a deeper and darker take on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the globe.

"I've never felt this desire, this . . . hunger before. It's a new feeling, new and shiny. I want so much from her: her trust, her obedience, her submission. I want her to be mine, but right now . . . I'm hers."

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty--until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him--past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian's cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

Finally the story through Christian's eyes! You get their initial meeting through his POV at the very end of Fifty Shades Freed, but it makes you crave for more. Getting his side, while knowing what is going on with Ana, brings more to the story even if it is in a haunting way with getting to see Christian's thoughts and dreams. A compiling and fascinating read. It leaves me wondering if E.L. James will do the other two books as well.

I loved reading Christians POV after reading the original books.

Took a long time to finish. I've seen the movies and not touched the Fifty Shades otherwise. Got me to research bdsm more and whether contracts actually exist etc. Grey is an obsessed sadist.

I don’t know why I picked this up. I didn’t like the original much. I finished it.

Hmmm okay. I read this one after lowkey racing through the 50 shades trilogy.

I kind of was hoping the series from Christian’s perspective would add more depth to his character/ go more into his backstory that readers only get the occasional glimpse of in 50.

Really this book is very repetitive to 50 shades, but not in a great way. I guess for me I’m mostly disappointed because when I read Midnight Sun, I felt it added a lot of insight to Edward’s character, so I was really hoping Grey would do the same.

I read it, I didn’t hate it, but it’s not a book I would encourage anyone to read. I’m going to continue with it, bc while I’m not obsessed, I’m still intrigued.
