Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, Book 3)
Wizard for hire Harry Dresden gets mixed-up with the dead in this "haunting, fantastical novel"(Publishers Weekly) in the #1 New York Times bestselling series. Harry Dresden's faced some pretty terrifying foes during his career. Giant scorpions. Oversexed vampires. Psychotic werewolves. It comes with the territory, when you're the only professional wizard in the Chicago area phone book. But in all Harry's years of supernatural sleuthing, he's never faced anything like this: the spirit world's gone postal. All over Chicago, ghosts are causing trouble--and not just of the door-slamming, boo-shouting variety. These ghosts are tormented, violent, and deadly. Someone--or something--is purposely stirring them up to wreak unearthly havoc. But why? And why do so many of the victims have ties to Harry? If Harry doesn't figure it out soon, he could wind up a ghost himself...

Okay Iâm going to have to agree with the fans, this book really amps up the whole series. It was lightning fast, filled with new characters I already love (or love to hate) and it seems like from here on out the series is going to be beyond excellent. Iâve already gotten the next one on lock ready to go. Quarantine series?? Hell yes.
I was wondering what had been going on with Bianca!! I had read the first few chapters a few months ago, so I had gone back and skimmed over them only to be instantly pulled in again. This was the first book introducing Michael. He is an AMAZING addition. I love just how strong, faithful and unwavering he is. Usually people think of priests and 'holy people' as fragile. In games they are the female 'healers' it was awesome to see such a strong bad-a$$ mofo.
I had also been wondering in this setting about ghosts and this was the first time that was really addressed, and it knocked me over. I usually read before bed and I found myself exhausted in the mornings from staying up way too late, not able to put the book down.
Poor poor Susan... I won't spoil anything, but Jim Butcher obviously doesn't write faerie tales. It's refreshing and agonizing for everything to not be perfect and A ok at the end.
I can't wait for the next book!

I didn’t much care for this book and felt it’s one of the weaker ones, like Storm Front. A bit of a step back for me coming off a decent book 2 in Full Moon but still feel there is way more to unfold than what the first few books have shown - committed to keep going.
Edit: The vampire ball was this books saving grace. Really shows Dresden’s sense of humour and ability to get himself over his head… every damn time lol
Every time I reread this one, I love it more and more - for reasons that would absolutely spoil the rest of the series, lol!
