“He came from another time to love me, and I’ve been waiting to love him in return. That’s what the hollow ache in my chest has been about. We just had to find each other.”
♾️⭐️ I knew I was going to love this book but oh my goshhhhhh my heart is so full. It was everything. Whimsical. Magical. Sweet. Sad. Raw. It had all the Christmas vibes without being overkill. Nolan and Harriet were everything you want in a romance. Their love was so visceral, and so real. This book is going to be a yearly reread for me.

This romance novel was absolutely splendid in all the right ways. Perfect amount of spice, perfect amount of drama and a brilliant cliff hanger at the end! I loved the spiritualism in the book and the whimsical afterlife humor.

Good Spirits is a whimsical, magical romance about falling in love with your Ghost of Christmas Past. The story follows Harriet York, a young woman who inherited her aunt's cozy antique shop, living a slow, comfortable life. On the first day of December, however, Harriet is given a ghost. Nolan Callahan, being a Ghost of Christmas Past, is tasked with taking Harriet on a journey through her past so she can reflect on her mistakes. The problem? Harriet is far from the cruel, ill-mannered Scrooge that Nolan thinks she is.

The absolute butterflies I got from this book NEEDS to be talked about. I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance this cozy and sweet. This book feels like the equivalent to being wrapped in a warm, comfy blanket and taking a long nap. The chemistry between the two of them was unmatched, the mix of banter and endearing moments was the perfect combination.
Nolan stole my heart from the very beginning. Who doesn’t want a charming Irish sailor who spends his free time befriending stray cats and knitting? Sadly, going from rugged fisherman to lonely ghost isn’t for the weak. Dying means losing everything that made life worth living: emotions, dreams, feelings, taste. Overall, I loved Nolan with my whole heart and felt he was a beautiful, deeply written character.
Harriet was the sweetest of souls, always putting others before herself. I hated every moment of conflict with her family. Having to watch Harriet shape herself into someone she’s not really tugged at my heartstrings. I adored watching Nolan and Harriet help each other find themselves throughout the story.
Overall, if you’re looking for a whimsical, cozy, little romance book, perfect for the holidays, definitely give Good Spirits by B.K. Borison a try.
