From Blood and Ash

Overall I was disappointed with this book considering the overwhelming reviews it’s received. The plot twists weren’t twisting. Unfortunately, I was able to predict the plot as early as the 20% through. The dialogue and inner dialogue throughout the story (especially as you near the end) also feels really repetitive. I started the second book but stopped 15% through. The next book just feels like a repetition of the dialogue and dynamics within this book.

Such a good start to the series but a little too long

Liked it and was intrigued, did take a while to capture my interest

I really enjoyed this book once I got past the first 25% of the book. It felt like an information dump of world building in the first part that was just repeating itself over and over. Once Hawke was introduced I really enjoyed their banter and attraction to each other. Did I see where it was going? Yes. Did I enjoy the ride? Also yes! I didn’t always anticipate who would be killed off or how but I did enjoy the surprise of it. Love the tropes, and excitedly started the second book the next day!

Might be my new favorite series!!
